| In an effort to
make this
survey more "realistic" and to verify information in my database, I
took
my own survey of the Wildes Family Cemetery in Reidsville, Tattnall
Co.,
GA on February 16, 2004. I had a lot of trouble locating the
cemetery
so I stopped by the Bradley B. Anderson funeral home in Reidsville to
ask
directions. Fortunately, Mr. Anderson (the funeral director) knew
where it was, for he had assisted the late Jane Mullins in burying her
mother there in 1999. When I asked for directions, he told me it
would be impossible to tell me, so he'd show me. He was kind
enough
to forward his phones to his cell phone and drove to the cemetery with
me following behind. Now I know why he couldn't tell me where it
is! You absolutely MUST know where you are going to find
it!
I am truly grateful to Mr. Anderson and his random act of kindness.
If you want to make an effort to find this cemetery, email me and I'll do the best I can. But keep in mind that it is on private property and you will think you are driving into the middle of an unknown forest! When you arrive at the cemetery, be very careful not to step in the cow patties. To be honest, they were the biggest ones I'd ever seen! The cows were nearby mooing a big "howdy" to me and I just couldn't help not mooing back at them with a giggle. The cemetery is framed in nicely with a chain link fence. It appears to be about a half acre in size and cleared of bushes. There are only a few trees inside the fence and the outer edge is surrounded by trees on three sides. The side without trees is the side where the road is. Other than the cows, it's a very quiet location and I'm glad these folks that passed were put in such a peaceful place. The headstones are shown below in the order I took the pictures from left to right. I started at the back of the cemetery and moved up to the front. Due to a lack of space on the page, I put them in order, but not the way they are laid out by row. You can still see how families were grouped together. To get a closer view of the images, just click on them. If you have any questions about this survey, please email me. |
